What Is Instagram’s Collaborative Collections Feature?
If you are familiar with Pinterest’s Group Board feature, then you know it allows multiple users to add content to the same board. The Collaborative Collections feature is very similar to that and an improvement onInstagram’s Collections feature.
With the Instagram Collections feature, you have the option to save posts andreelsto a special collection, sort of like bookmarks. The Collaborative Collections feature, on the other hand, allows you to collaborate on those posts with your friends.
The best part about Collaborative Collections is that not only can you add content to it, but your friends can as well. And whenever someone adds a post or reel to the collection, all the participants who are part of the collection will get a notification about it.
How to Use Collaborative Collections to Plan Your Next Trip
The Collaborative Collections feature can come in handy in various situations. For instance, if you are planning a trip with your friends, you can all save posts and reels for ideas of the places you would like to visit or foods you want to try. This way, you won’t forget any important things you thought of doing on your trip but forgot to do because they slipped out of your mind at that moment.
That being said, let’s see how to create a Collaborative Collections on Instagram. First, find the post you want to add to your Collaborative Collection, tap the bookmark icon, and select “Save to Collection.” You may not need to select “Save to Collection” first, and the bookmark icon may be behind the three-dot menu icon.
Scroll down and choose “Create a Collaborative Collection” from the menu.
Select the person you want to collaborate with on that post. Then, give a name to your collection. Tap the “Save” button.
Instagram saysyou can add up to 250 people to a Collaborative Collection, but unfortunately, our testing found that you can’t select more than one person when creating the collection. There’s also no option to invite more friends later. However, there is a workaround you can try in this situation.
For that, you need to create a group chat on Instagram. To do this, go to the messages section and tap the pen icon in the top-right corner.
Select “Create a Group Chat.”
Choose all the people you want in your Collaborative Collection. Then, tap “Create Chat.”
Now, when you create a Collaborative Collection and get the option to select a friend, choose the group you just created. This way, you may have Collaborative Collections with multiple people, even though the feature initially seems limited to one person.
You can access the Collaborative Collections by going to your Instagram profile, tapping the hamburger menu, and selecting “Saved.”
You’ll find your Collaborative Collections in the Saved window. If you want to delete the collection, tap the three dots in the top-right corner and choose “Delete Collection.”
You can also add an existing collection to a Collaborative Collection. This means you can add a collection of posts you already have to your Collaborative Collections. To do this, tap the three dots, choose “Add to Collections” and then select the Collection or posts you want to add.
Before you start using this feature, there are a few more things you need to know about it. First, people in the collection will only be able to see the shared private post if they follow the account that posted it. Also, any member of the collection can delete a shared post. This means that even if you shared a post in the collection, someone else in the collection candelete it.
What Else Can You Do with Collaborative Collections?
The Collaborative Collections feature isn’t just for planning trips with friends and family. You can use it to share dishes you want to cook together with your partner. You can also use it to share ideas on decorating a wedding venue and verify everyone is on the same page. The possibilities of using this feature are endless! It’s all up to you how and when you use it.
