Bob Odenkirk, the hilarious formerSNLwriter andMr. Showcreator, is the last guy you’d think of as a John Wick-level, ass-kicking assassin. Which is exactly why he’s so good inNobody. From the creators ofJohn Wick, no less, Odenkirk stars in this acclaimed darkly comedic action flick as suburban family man Hutch Mansell.

But after burglars break into his home, and he does nothing, something dormant inside him awakens, and he takes it out on a group of Russian thugs on a bus. That’s when we learn that Hutch isn’t just a nobody. “I used to be what they call an auditor,” he says. “The last guy anyone wants to see at their door.” Odenkirk is excellent as the reawakened former badass, and the fight scenes are next level as Hutch defends his family from the Russians who come for him.

Watch this before heading to the theater to check outNobody 2,which just came out.

OK, speaking of jump scares, this hit 2004 supernatural horror is one of the best to do it. The shower scene alone still creeps into my head every once in a while as I lather up with shampoo. The Grudge,a remake of the Japanese horror classicJu-On: The Grudge, brought J-horror to America in a big way with its creepy, croaky sound design and the often-imitated juttery, jarring movements of its terrifying, white-eyed specters.

Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as Karen, an American care worker living in Tokyo. When she visits a client at house cursed by the violent deaths of its owners, the curse is transferred to anyone who enters, following them everywhere until it eventually kills them. What’s worse is that once they’re dead, it can then transfer to another in an endless chain reaction of manifestation. Marked by the curse herself, Karen must try to break the chain and end its line. The Grudgewas a huge success, sparking two American sequels.

When you go to work tomorrow, take quiet stock of the unassuming number-crunchers, programmers, and accountants around your office and ask yourself—could they be a lethal hitman? The Accountantwill make you wonder.

While this 2016crime thrillerdidn’t win any major awards, it did a solid box office and earned Ben Affleck some devout fans for his turn as Christian Wolff, a forensic accountant with high-functioning autism and OCD who’s brought in to a robotics company to perform an audit. With the help of unsuspecting junior accountant Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick), Christian exposes the company’s shady dealings, which is when the bad men with guns (led by Jon Berenthal) and the Treasury Department (led by J.K. Simmons) come looking for them.

Affleck is cold and meticulous as Christian, and Kendrick adds a great, often humorous balance to that intensity. The Accountant 2is also streaming on Prime Video, if you want to see where the story goes after the first installment.

Parents who are fans of Ryan Reynolds' brand of clever and endearing sarcasm will be intoPrime Video’sIF. IFis as heartwarming as it is visually impressive, using a mix of animated and live-action elements. And while the critics didn’t love the film, don’t overthink it—IFis a sweet watch with the kids.
