Resident Evil 4remakehas hit a major milestone just two years after its release, selling 10 million copies since launch. This makes it the fastest a game in theResident Evilfranchiseto reach this milestone and brings the franchise’s total sales to over 150 million copies across all games.

Resident Evil 4remake is a faithful remake of the original 2005 action-horror game of the same name, which is cited as being deeply influential, thanks to its innovations as a third-person shooter.Resident Evil 4remake is also available on nearly every platform, includingMobileand aVR. Here’s what Capcom had to say about the sales milestone.

Resident Evil 4 Has Sold 10 Million Copies, Bringing the Series’ Total to 167 Million

Announced in a press release,Resident Evil 4remake has sold 10 million copies as of July 25, 2025, a little under two years after its launch. Capcom said that the remake is the fastest game in the series to reach this milestone, which a few other games in the franchise have reached. This brings the total series sales to over 167 million copies, making it Capcom’s best-selling series by a wide margin.

According toCapcom,Resident Evilis the best at 167 million, withMonster Huntersecond at 108 million copies, andStreet Fighterat 56 million. Those numbers are as of the end of 2024, so it does not include the sales ofMonster Hunter Wilds, which would bring the total sales numbers up.

In the same release, Capcom also provided updated sales numbers for other recent entries in the series, including several games that have cleared 10 million copies.

Resident Evil series sales

Capcom has not updated its list of Platinum titles–the company’s best-selling games–with these new numbers, but based on thecurrent list, it looks likeResident Evil 4remake sits at number 7, just above theResident Evil 3remake. In terms of sales, that puts it only behind the listedResident Evilgames above,Monster Hunter World, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, andMonster Hunter Rise.

Monster Hunter Wildsalso isn’t on the list just yet, but it reached10 million copies soldjust a month after launch, so it will likely sit much higher on the overall list once Capcom updates it.

Capcom’s 10 best-selling games as of the end of 2024

Capcom is looking to continue its renaissance in 2025 and beyond. WithMonster Hunter Wildsalready out,Onimusha: Way of the Sword.and a sequel toOkamiannounced to be coming in 2026 and beyond. Capcom also appears to be teasingResident Evil 9in a video onX, which ends with a shot of a sign that, when turned sideways, makes the roman numeral IX.

Considering that Capcom used roman numerals as the entry numbers for bothResident Evil 7: BiohazardandResident Evil Village, it seems unlikely that it would be a coincidence.
